Even though Overnight oat recipes have been around for a while now, I’m a bit late in joining the crew. I recently tried them after hearing about how great they are from my hairdresser Sandy.
After making and eating these oats for breakfast I’m a convert, plus they are absolutely loaded with so much fiber that tower over other breakfast choices like the quick piece of toast and conventional cereals. Plus they will definitely get you moving in the bathroom department.

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this amazing overnight oatmeal breakfast. This is a good base recipe for overnight oats.
Ingredient Notes
Oats – I used rolled oats for this recipe and work better than the quick oats. (finer cut). My preference is actually organic oats in general as they seem a lot creamier.
Chia Seeds – any colour, black or white chia seeds are perfect. They turn this breakky into a pudding like mixture which is very yumm and super nutritious too.
Glass jars – making individual overnight oats can be done easily in mason jars or any glass jar with a screw top lids for an easy grab and go delicious breakfast.
How to make Easy 5 Ingredient Overnight Oats STEP BY STEP
STEP 1. Pop all your ingredients into a screw top or mason jar or container of your choice. Or mix in a jug and pour into your jar.
STEP 2. Mix well to make sure all the seeds and oats combine with the milk and store in the fridge overnight.
STEP 3. Eat the next day topped with your favorite toppings.
Storage and Reheating
These overnight oats will keep for a couple of days in the fridge. Be sure to keep them covered.
To reheat pop into the microwave for 20 seconds at a time until you get the perfect temp.
How to serve your overnight oatmeal
Fresh fruit, sliced bananas and berries or if you don’t have any on hand use frozen fruit
Dollop with Greek yogurt, a tablespoon of almond butter, coconut or vegan yogurt
Nuts – almond flakes, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, coconut flakes or toasted coconut
Decadent toppings – chocolate chips, cocoa powder,
Variations and Substitutions
Sweeteners – instead of maple syrup swap it for honey.
Milk of choice – use whatever you love. Oat, almond, soy, coconut milk, dairy, full fat or low fat.
Protein powder – add some protein powder for an extra protein boost

Recipe Card
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 2 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbs maple syrup
- 130 mls almond milk
- ¼ cup blueberries fresh or frozen

Pop all the ingredients into a jar with a screw top lid.

Mix together well and place in the refrigerator overnight.

Serve the following day topped with fruit, maple syrup or whatever you like.
If you like a warm oatmeal pop into the microwave for a 20 seconds at a time until you get the desired temperature.
