Hi there, I just have to share with you something totally unexpected and freaking awesome. When we started our lifestyle changes “Just One Bite At a Time” back in January, personally I had cracked the 100kg mark, 101 on our scales at home.
Chunky Monkey
My pants were around Size 102, which I was not really happy about but thought “yeah that’ll magically change ONE DAY”.
Well it seems that day was yesterday. More on that in a moment.
Now a little over 6 months ago Sony and I made some small changes which we are finally starting to see, literally. From changing our diet to include a lot more healthy, fresh and natural unprocessed food and adding a little bit of exercise.
We try to get out and about at least 4-5 times a week to walk the dog or dogs if Bonnie (Tommy’s and Bek’s dog) is sleeping over and do a minimum of 35 – 40 minutes medium paced walk.
The dogs love it and so do we. It is amazing how much better you feel afterwards and seems to set the outlook for a positive and constructive day.
Going To Take For Ages
At the time of starting this, losing a few kilos and getting healthier seemed like a daunting task. I guess human nature being what it is we all want results yesterday.
Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of times that we both thought this is crap, why aren’t we seeing any results? Well somehow the results just sneak up on you and give you a pleasant little surprise when you least expect it.
Back To My Missing 4 Inches.
So yesterday I went to get some new work pants from Lowes. I knew my waist line had shrunk a bit, but I got an nice little extra surprise.
I grabbed 2 pairs of Size 97 pants and tried the first ones on. OMG, I had to check the size again as I thought they must have been 102’s.
Oh well, try on the other pair in a different cut, yep, same thing there too. So I said to the lovely sales assistant “Excuse me, I might be pushing it a bit, but do you have these in 92’s”.
So I grabbed the 92’s and tried them on. Bloody hell, they fit perfectly. I can say that it would be around 20 years or more since I was that size and to say I was stoked was an understatement.
To top it off, I’m now hovering around the 88 – 89kg mark, so that’s around 12 kilos gone. How does that feel?
Well let me say that bending down is so much easier now (which I do every day at work) and my joints feel a bit lighter and freer than they use to as well.
So what I have noticed in the last 6 months is that these little “WOW” moments do tend to sneak up on you when you least expect it.
It is important to remain focused and not fall too far off the main road as Sony and I have found.
Some weeks it seems like you have gone backwards in a huge way only to have a major progression forward the following week.
I liken it to golf or surfing. 1 good shot on the golf course is enough to forget the other 100 plus bad ones, that 1 good wave will keep you coming back in search of the next one.
So I just try to remember that it is a snails race. The changes, while not noticeable on a day to day basis are real and tend to sneak up on you when you least expect it.
That’s why I won’t ever give up.
