If you ever thought I can’t make a dessert because it takes too long well think again as this healthy Blueberry Sorbet will have you wanting more.

Well do I really need to say it? Well….this fruit sorbet only has two ingredients and they are healthy too. You could call it homemade icecream because of it’s smooth texture but it’s dairy free.  It’s one of those feel good desserts that you can eat without worry about what’s actually in the ingredients because you know it’s just frozen blueberries and bananas. I feel that I don’t even have to give you any instructions as it’s soooo easy.

Plus it will only take around 10 minutes to make and have ready to serve.  It’s one of those great “have in the freezer ingredient recipes” that you can whip up during a dinner party without the guest knowing. All without an ice cream machine.

Recipe Tips

I really like to make this fruit sorbet at the time of serving as it’s so, so creamy in texture.  Freezing the blueberry and banana dessert is definitely fine but can loose a little of that creaminess when stored for longer periods of time in the freezer.

How to store you Banana and blueberry sorbet.

After making you blueberry and banana sorbet pop into a airtight container and into the freezer.  It should keep for a week or more.

To Serve

Take out of the freezer and sit on the bench at room temperature for at least 5 minutes before serving and plating.  Will make a massive difference in texture and taste. Serve with fresh berries on top and a drizzle of maple syrup if you want just a bit of extra sweetness.

Additions and Substitutions

If you like you can swap out the bananas for frozen mango or pineapple if you like. That’s the best part.

You might also like to add a splash of coconut cream just to give it that little bit creamier coconutty flavour but honestly it is creamy without it as well.

Adding a little lemon zest can give it that extra lift.

FAQ’s

Q. Can fresh blue berries be used instead of frozen for this Blueberry Sorbet recipe?

A. Honestly I haven’t tried but I think using frozen fruit is convenient and you can these ingredients on hand at home for those just in case times. We cut and freeze our own bananas and they blitz up perectly.
